The Department of Physics plays a vital role in strengthening the engineering foundation of students by providing sound knowledge of fundamental and applied physics. The department supports all engineering programs by delivering outcome-based education that links physical principles with real-world engineering applications. With experienced faculty, well-equipped laboratories, and modern teaching methodologies, the department fosters analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and scientific temper among students.
The department actively promotes student-centric learning through laboratory experiments, seminars, value-added courses, and exposure to emerging areas of science and technology. Emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary learning, innovation, and research orientation to prepare students for academic excellence and professional competence.
Excel students’ knowledge and ability in the area of basic sciences to enhance innovative ideas for creating new things with scientific pursuit
The mission of the department is to provide physics courses relevant to the professional needs of engineering and technology students and pursue research and development work to keep the faculty in tune with scientific methodology and stay abreast of recent developments
State-of-the-art laboratories equipped with modern instruments for hands-on learning.
The Engineering Physics Laboratory is designed to provide undergraduate engineering students with hands-on experience in fundamental physics concepts that form the foundation of engineering and technological applications. The laboratory enables students to experimentally verify theoretical principles learned in the classroom and to develop practical skills in measurement, analysis, and interpretation of physical phenomena.
The laboratory is well equipped with modern instruments and experimental setups related to optics, semiconductor physics, electricity and magnetism, material properties, and wave phenomena. Students perform experiments such as determination of band gap energy, Hall effect, magnetic susceptibility, optical fiber studies, laser and diffraction experiments, and measurement of thermal properties of materials.
Emphasis is placed on accuracy, safety practices, data analysis, and error estimation. The laboratory also fosters problem-solving ability, teamwork, and scientific reporting skills. Through systematic experimentation, students gain confidence in handling precision instruments and develop an experimental approach essential for engineering practice and research.
The Engineering Physics Laboratory plays a crucial role in strengthening conceptual understanding and preparing students for advanced engineering studies, research activities, and industry-oriented applications.
