Welcome Message

The Department was established in 2011 with the introduction of the undergraduate Programme B.E. Automobile Engineering. Automobile Engineering has gained recognition and importance ever since motor vehicles capable of transporting passengers became widespread. With the rapid growth of automobile industries and auto component manufacturers, there is a significant demand for Automobile Engineers.

The Automobile Engineering branch deals with the design, development, manufacture, testing, repair and servicing of automobiles such as cars, trucks, motorcycles, and scooters, along with their related subsystems. To achieve the perfect blend of manufacturing and design, Automobile Engineering integrates various disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, electronic, software and safety engineering. The Programme involves understanding vehicle chassis mechanisms, internal combustion engines, electrical systems, motor transport management, workshop technology, research and design.

The department provides excellent infrastructure and highly qualified faculty members who ensure quality education through effective interaction among students, parents and staff. The dedicated Training and Placement Cell further supports students in securing promising career opportunities. Automobile Engineering is considered as an evergreen branch with consistently strong demand. Students of this branch enjoy diverse career opportunities across various industries. The programme builds a strong foundation in automobile components, fluid mechanics and thermal power applications.

Learn Automobile Engineering and explore the wide scope of opportunities across multiple fields.

Laboratories

State-of-the-art laboratories equipped with modern instruments for hands-on learning.

Automotive Components Laboratory

The Automotive Components Laboratory, one of the key laboratories in the Department of Automobile Engineering, was established in 2010. The laboratory is equipped with a multi-cylinder engine, a four-wheel drive system and an air brake system, among other facilities. The lab includes both academic and research-based equipment, enabling students to gain practical skills in the dismantling and assembly of engines, engine components and chassis components.

Engine Performance and Emission Testing Laboratory

The Engine Performance and Emission Testing Laboratory, one of the key laboratories in the Department of Automobile Engineering, was established in 2011. It provides faculty and students with the resources to conduct experimental research on internal combustion engines. The laboratory includes both academic and research-based equipment to study combustion characteristics, engine performance and emission measurement. All engines are equipped with eddy current dynamometers, which enhance loading accuracy.

Automotive Electrical and Electronics Laboratory

The Automotive Electrical and Electronics Laboratory was established in 2015 for academic purposes. It enables students to identify charging, starting, ignition and accessory circuit components, understand their functions and maintenance procedures and learn about different types of automotive wiring, terminals and wiring diagrams.

Automotive Fuels and Lubricants Laboratory

This laboratory helps students to develop highly focused, independent practical skills in the study of fuels and lubricants. It enables students to determine the properties of various fuels and lubricants and compare them with standard specifications to assess their quality. This laboratory complements the theoretical components of the Automotive Fuels and Lubricants Testing course.

Vehicle Maintenance Laboratory

The Department of Automobile Engineering has a Vehicle Servicing and Testing Laboratory equipped with highly sophisticated testing instruments. This laboratory is used for the complete servicing of both two-wheelers and four-wheelers. It also includes a car fitted with onboard diagnostic equipment.
