Founded in the academic year 2009–2010, Annapoorana Engineering College (AEC) is approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu and AICTE, New Delhi . It was established by the Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal Medical Educational and Charitable Trust (TKVTSSMEC Trust), an organization that has been active in higher education for over three decades—spanning Medicine, Engineering, Dental, Nursing, and Pharmacy

The college emphasizes inclusive education, committed to serving students from socially disadvantaged communities—reflecting principles of social justice enshrined in the Indian Constitution. Its founder, Dr. A. Shanmugasundaram, is credited for the institution’s legacy of social reform, cultural renaissance, and intellectual awakening

 It is a private autonomous institution affiliated with Anna University, recognized by AICTE, NAAC, and UGC

Campus & Facilities

Located on approximately 13.94 acres, the campus houses modern infrastructure including upgraded smart classrooms, specialized laboratories, a central library, hostels, medical facilities, a gym, and more

Library: Spanning 755 m², with over 7,865 titles, nearly 19,800 volumes, digital access, and around 100 journal subscriptions

Hostels: Boys’ and girls’ hostels equipped with quality food, R/O drinking water, game facilities, medical supervision, and emergency services

IT Infrastructure: Wi-Fi campus, air-conditioned computer center with around 450 systems, and access to tools like Auto-CAD and CNC labs

Additional amenities include a gym (“Power Gym”), auditorium, canteen, robust transport services, and strong alumni engagement

AEC fosters industry exposure through its R&D Studio and departmental incubation centers tailored to specific engineering fields:

Institute of Industrial Design R&D Studio: Bridges academic learning with industry by offering value-added programs, internships, and training in Mechanical, Automobile, and Civil disciplines

Annapoorana Computer Science Incubation Centre (ACSIC): Established in 2018 in collaboration with Avatar Academy, this center focuses on networking, routing, security, and practical CSE applications

Annapoorana Civil Incubation Centre (ACIC): Also launched in 2018, this center provides consultancy, testing, and training in civil engineering domains like geotechnical analysis, material testing, and environmental services

Quality Assurance:

The college’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), established in 2017, ensures continuous improvement across academics, administration, and institutional processes. It supports adherence to NAAC standards, encourages research collaborations, and facilitates structured planning via strategic documentation
