About Us

The Department of English was founded in 2010, the same year when Annapoorana Engineering college was established. It has gradually grown and is recognized as one of the finest English department in engineering institutions. The Department has a special position among the student community for the initiatives it takes to promote the communication skills and personality development of the students through activities outside the curriculum. The Department conducts need-based training programmes in English for the first year students of engineering with professional experts from outside the institution

The English Department with its major Professional English Writing strive to train students in literature, language and writing. The department believes that since English is the global language of communication, and has become a major requirement in the job market, all students should improve their oral and written communication skill in English in order to be able to compete in the highly competitive job market in Global and the region. To accomplish this, the Department aims to in still the concept of life-long learning into the students. All the four pillars of language learning – listening, speaking, reading and writing – are integrated in the course delivery to ensure a balanced development of language skills. The department offers a variety of course that give students the opportunity to enhance their intellectual curiosity, analytical and interpretive thinking, and expand their horizons as well through broad and intensive reading.
