ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Biomedical Engineering was established in the year 2023. Biomedical Engineering is the application of the principles and problem-solving techniques of Engineering to Biology and Medicine. This is evident throughout healthcare, from diagnosis and analysis to treatment and recovery, and has entered the public principles though the sudden increase of implantable medical devices, such as pacemakers and artificial hips, to more futuristic technologies such as Stem Cell Engineering and the 3-D Printing of Biological Organs.
Biomedical Engineers differ from other engineering disciplines that have an influence on human health and in that, Biomedical engineers use and apply an intimate knowledge of modern biological principles in their engineering design process. They have plenty of opportunities in the field like Clinical Laboratory Design, Medical Imaging, Sports Medicine, Wireless Patient Monitoring, E-medicine and Computer Aided Diagnosis Systems. Biomedical Engineering is getting more admired because of the boost in the upward difficulty of medical technology around the world. And as a result, there is a huge demand for trained professionals to bridge the gap between clinical Medicine and Applied Medical Technology.
The Department has grown excellently in academic and research work. The department is well equipped with laboratories like
- Analog and Digital Integrated Circuit Laboratory
- Biomedical Signal Processing Laboratory
- Microprocessors and Microcontrollers Laboratory
- Advanced Communication Laboratory
- Medical Image Processing Laboratory
- Diagnostic and Therapeutic Laboratory
- Bio Sensors and Transducers Laboratory
VISION
The Department of Biomedical Engineering is committed to evolve as a world class Science and Technology Centre by integrating quality and ethics in teaching and research.
MISSION
- To support education and research that blends Biomedical Engineering.
- Empowering students with an unique multidisciplinary learning experience and fostering the young minds to develop as a researcher, entrepreneur and so on.
- Emphasize social values, ethics and leadership qualities to face the industrial needs, societal problems and global challenges.
PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEO)
PEO1 | To enable the graduates to demonstrate their skills in solving challenges in their chosen field through the core foundation and knowledge acquired in engineering and biology. |
PEO2 | To enable the graduates to exhibit leadership, make decisions with societal and ethical responsibilities, function and communicate effectively in multidisciplinary settings. |
PEO3 | To ensure the graduates to recognize the need for sustaining and expanding their technical competence and engage in learning opportunities throughout their career |
