English
The Department of English was founded in 2010, the same year when Annapoorana Engineering college was established. It has gradually grown and is recognized as one of the finest English department in engineering institutions. The Department has a special position among the student community for the initiatives it takes to promote the communication skills and personality development of the students through activities outside the curriculum. The Department conducts need-based training programmes in English for the first year students of engineering with professional experts from outside the institution.
Aimed at improving students’ proficiency in English language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension. This is crucial for engineering students as they need strong communication skills to excel in their field, especially in areas like technical writing, presentations, and collaboration. Offer workshops or seminars focused on professional development topics relevant to engineering students, such as resume writing, interview skills, networking, and career exploration in fields where strong communication skills are essential.
Overall, the English department in an engineering college plays a vital role in complementing the technical education students receive, equipping them with the communication, critical thinking, and cultural awareness skills necessary for success in their future careers as engineers.
Vision
The department may strive to instill a passion for lifelong learning and intellectual curiosity among students, equipping them with the skills and mindset necessary for continued growth and adaptation in their professional and personal lives.
To envision graduating students who are not only proficient engineers but also informed global citizens with a deep appreciation for the role of language and culture in shaping the world around them.
Mission
Recognizing the importance of effective technical communication in engineering, the department offers courses and resources to help students develop skills in technical writing, documentation, and presentation tailored to the engineering field.
The department collaborates with other departments within the engineering college to support interdisciplinary projects and initiatives, recognizing the value of integrating humanities perspectives into engineering education
