AEC Library

The College Central Library is the heart of any Institution. The Central Library of our college serves as a power house of knowledge and also serves as a resource center with a comprehensive collection of books and journals useful for the faculty and students of our institute and provides an efficient dissemination of knowledge. The central Library is located in a spacious block of 500sq.m. with fully computerized Digital System of adopting “open access” system which enables the readers to go to bookshelves and select books and other resources by themselves freely. AEC Library acts as a knowledge hub for the academic activities of our institution with a mission to provide knowledge gateway to the user community with the state of the art technologies.

There are more than 6322 Titles and 21169 volumes of books available for usage and subscribes 96 current journals at national and international level as print copies to cover a wide range of engineering subjects to facilitate users to access current academic and research literature. There are various sections consist of Stack Room, Reading Room, Circulation Section, Digital Library. It has computerized all its housekeeping activities using Library software SOUL that is being maintained and updated regularly. This enables users in searching and availing the library resources. Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) facility is being followed and all the transactions are automated to save the precious time of the students. The unique feature of our Central Library is its total utilization.

• Book stocking section has the collection of text and reference books prescribed in the syllabus and also have relevant text books.
• In the Periodical Section, National Journals and International Journals are subscribed and kept in printed form.
• Web OPAC is an acronym of ‘Web Online Public Access Catalogue’. It facilitates online search queries related to availability of library resources viz. Books, Journals, CDs, project reports.(192.168.10.26/webopac)
• Reprography and printing facilities are available to the users.

Integrated Library Management System (ilms)

SOUL 2.0

SOUL is an ILMS software is to design manage the institutional library management process. Software for University Libraries (SOUL) is an state-of-the-art integrated library management software designed and developed by the INFLIBNET Centre based on requirements of college and university libraries. It is a user-friendly software developed to work under client-server environment. The software is compliant to international standards for bibliographic formats, networking and circulation protocols. After a comprehensive study, discussions and deliberations with the senior professionals of the country, the software was designed to automate all housekeeping operations in library. The software is suitable not only for the academic libraries, but also for all types and sizes of libraries, even school libraries. The SOUL 2.0 consists of the following modules. Each module has further been divided into sub modules to cater to its functional requirements:

Acquisition

The Library Acquires resources based on suggestions/recommendations made by its users faculty/library committee members/students. Main task of the LIS staff is to input the suggestions/recommendations received, into the system along with the name of the person who has requested for. This helps the librarian to inform the requester as soon as the suggested item is added in the library or its current status.

Catalogue

Cataloguing is the most important module of the LMS from the point of view of retrieval of information. In soul 2.0 bibliographic details such as Title, Author, Publisher, Edition, ISBN etc are able to enter in marc21 format. Once this information saved record is generated. It is also compliant to international standards such as AACR-2,Marcxml.Records can be added using online copy cataloguing

Circulation

membership and also establish relationship between the user and resources by creating transaction records (Issue/Return/Renew),Reserve the item(s),issue the item on ILL, Book bank transaction facility and get number of routine reports and some management reports.

OPAC

One of the major attraction of Soul 2.0 is its robust On-line public Access Catalogue(OPAC). The OPAC has simple and advanced search facility with the minimum information for each item including author, title, corporate body, conference name, subject headings, keywords, class number, series name, accession number or combination of any of two or more information regarding the item.

Serial Control

Serial control module of soul 2.0 provides streamline access to the users from Title entry to schedule generation and receiving order. It offers easy creation and maintenance of Article indexing database and thereby help in providing the services according to the user’s need.

Administration

The module has been divided into three major sub modules for accommodating the new features. These three sub-modules are User Management, System Parameters and Masters.

Digital Library

Library provides the computer systems to access the subscribed E-Databases, E- Journals, E-Books, other e- resources and internet browsing for students and staff community. Users can access for educational, research and development purpose. Non-book materials such as CDs, DVDs, text book tutorial CDs and periodical’s CDs are also kept in the Library.

DELNET (Developing Library Network)

Our College Central Library is an Institutional member of DELNET (since 2012). DELNET is offering Inter Library Loan & Document Delivery Services to its member libraries.

Union Catalogue of Books

DELNET maintains an online union catalogue of books available in its member-libraries. This union catalogue is continuously updated and is growing in size. The information can be retrieved by author, title, subject, conference, series, etc. It has 3,45,00,298 bibliographic records. The request for inter-library loan can be placed through the online system.

Union List of Current Periodicals

DELNET has created union lists of current periodicals in science and technology, social sciences and humanities. This database is available online to DELNET users. It now lists 1,04,569 periodicals and is regularly updated and new titles are added annually. It is a major resource for Document Delivery Services.

National Digital Library of India Club

In view of encouraging our readers (users) and inculcating reading habits to our society and also in embarking the personality skills, the Central Library has established a “NDLI Club” in the year 2019. The main objective of this park is to encourage the users to read for pleasure, develop attitude and also to promote library usage.

E-ShodhSindhu

Based on the recommendation of an Expert Committee, the Ministry of HRD (now renamed as Ministry of Education) has formed e-ShodhSindhu merging three consortia initiatives, namely UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium, NLIST and INDEST-AICTE Consortium.The e-ShodhSindhu will continue to provide current as well as archival access to more than 10,000 core and peer-reviewed journals and a number of bibliographic, citation and factual databases in different disciplines from a large number of publishers and aggregators to its member institutions including centrally-funded technical institutions, universities and colleges that are covered under 12(B) and 2(f) Sections of the UGC Act.

 Library Advisory Committee

The role of the Library Advisory Committee shall comprise to oversee the effectiveness of functioning of the library so that; it can facilitate the library development plans by advocating the library development activities with the management. Institution functions according to the academic calendar and based on which college academic activities are planned. Therefore, Library Advisory Committee will be formed for the academic year (Twice in year). Meetings may be conducted periodically as and when required.

The Librarian is the member convener in the committee. The Library advisory committee is responsible for policymaking. While, the Librarian suggestion is to be considered and the Librarian is to implement this by working out details which, should be within the framework.

Borrowing Privilege Conditions

Borrowing privileges are given only to the Faculty, Staff and Students who are registered in the library. Books can be issued to the borrowers only against the Institute ID ­Card.

Rules and Regulation

1. Users should maintain silence
2. ID card is mandatory for library access and usage.
3. Users should sign in the Electronic Gate Entry Register.
4. Users should return the library resources in time without mutilating, disfiguring of pages of resources by ink (or) pencil marks.
5. Digital Library can be used only for academic purpose such as downloading E-Journals, Articles and browsing of important resources.
6. Reference Books are not allowed out the library.
7. Mobile Phones are not permitted in the library premises
8. Users should follow library rules and regulations and co-operate with library staff.
9. Users are not allowed to bring non library materials inside the library hall and they can keep the belongings in the Property Counter.
10. Furniture should not be disturbed from the actual position.
