Blood scarcity is a public health issue in our country, and many lives are lost as a result of a lack of blood units. To address this shortage, Annapoorana Engineering College NSS unit arranged a Blood Donation Camp at Dr.A.Shanmugasundaram Seminar Hall on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day in collaboration with Annapoorana Medical College on 14.06.2022.

Dr.A.Anbuchezian, Principal, inaugurated the Blood Donation Camp and encouraged the students to donate blood. Dr.R.Pitchai M.D., Blood Bank Medical officer, said, “Donating blood is a social responsibility of every human being”. He also made an offer that “students and staff blood donors” would receive a free master check-up at Annapoorana Hospital in appreciation of their noble service. Heads from various departments brought important support and help in arranging the camp. It was a very successful event because a significant number of faculty and students came forward to help the cause by donating blood. Aside from collecting blood units from donors, the team of doctors at the camp also spread awareness about dispelling myths about blood donation. Students and faculty were encouraged to donate blood on a regular basis. Approximately 50 units of blood are donated by the volunteers to AMCH. The donors were appreciated for their assistance.
