About Us

The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 2010. It is well equipped with professionally designed scientific laboratory to offer practical courses to all B.E programmes. The faculty members are well experienced and have published research papers in both national and international journals and possess extensive knowledge in all fields of Chemistry. A strong and active research effort allows the faculty to keep abreast of the latest scientific advances and to impart new ideas and concepts to the students. The major research area of interest in the department includes Electrochemistry, Natural products, Environmental Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Coordination Chemistry and Nano chemistry.

Vision

To impart quality education in chemistry to students of various branches of engineering and technology and help they comprehend the role of chemistry in engineering applications and in conserving the environment

Mission

  • To impart a high quality education in application of chemistry in broad areas of Engineering and Technology.
  • To carry out applied research in various topics of Chemistry.
  • To play an integrating and coordinating role to the multi-disciplinary areas of Science and
    Engineering

HOD Message

Dr.V.ANBAZHAGAN
HOD/ PROFESSOR

The chemistry department is doing enormously well with regards to the infrastructure and teaching methods. The teaching staff of my department comprises a group of successful people with Ph.D degrees as well as activities in Teaching and Research. Department of chemistry plays a vital role in an engineering college providing to the teaching of basic Science and Humanities courses for engineering students of all branches. The purpose of chemistry in engineering study is to place a strong foundation of basic principles of Chemistry in the mind of the learners, so that they proceed to rest of their years of study with up to date knowledge and training of basic engineering skills. Our Laboratories have been very well established not only to cover complete syllabus but to motivate students to learn beyond the syllabus which develops complete knowledge of the subject (both the theoretical and practical depth of knowledge) and develop skill sets of students to become promising engineers in future.

We would like to conclude with the words of Thomas Friedman who has rightly opined “World is flat. Opportunities are immense. It’s just a question of identifying opportunities and making the best of them”. I wish a very best of luck to the students…

Lab Facilities

Chemistry Laboratory

Our department lab is suitably prepared to impart education in Chemistry in a neatly designed, spacious and well-ventilated laboratory with an ability to accommodate 30 students. The lab is beautifully designed with polished ceramics tiles, separate chemical store room and balance room. It provides students with a practical approach towards the numerous techniques used in engineering application. Practical awareness is instructed and students are well trained both quantitatively and qualitatively during the lab periods so that their understanding and problem solving abilities can be enhanced.
