Department of Mechanical Engineering

The department of Mechanical engineering is a professional programme which helps students to understand the working mechanisms of heavy tools and machineries. The Department has a team of 7 dedicated members of faculty, 3 faculties pursuing their research and Research Center was approved by Anna University, Chennai. The branch applies principles of engineering, physics and material science for the design, analysis manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems.

The course covers technical areas like distribution of electricity through generators, transformers and wiring in buildings. Mechanical engineering demands knowledge about software used in technical work like computer aided design and mathematical modelling. The Department Faculty and students have published more than 70 papers in National and International Conferences/Journals. The major areas of research include Condensation Heat Transfer, Solar Energy, Phase Change Material, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Waste Heat Recovery, Energy Efficient Technologies, Ventilation Analysis, Digital Manufacturing, Vacuum Cooling, Robotics, ERP, Supply Chain Management, Lean Manufacturing and Industrial Safety Engineering. Since its inception in the year 2010, the department with the well–knit faculty demonstrating high professionalism puts the graduating engineers on excellence.

Mechanical engineering is one of the most comprehensive professional disciplines. Mechanical engineering principles are employed in a wide range of industries such as power generation, manufacturing, energy, repair and maintenance, automation and control, robotics, electronics, nanotechnology, food industries, automotive, petroleum, aerospace, etc. Over the last one decade, we have grown our expertise and competence in the core Mechanical Engineering and research.
